Our Mission

Our mission is to shine the light on the siblings of children with special needs and other health impairments. KH&M’s Siblings Are Us will show the siblings of children with special needs they are the true heroes and deserve to be recognized as the great heroes they are every day.  KH&M’s Siblings are Us will strive to bring out the bright light that each of these siblings have inside of them. KH&M will bring back bright smiles, feelings of warmth, love, appreciation, I matter, I am loved, and I am just as important as my sibling /siblings with special needs. Shining the light on the siblings of children with special needs will empower them to improve their lives in the areas of mental and physical health, school grades and behavior, sports, self-control, self-esteem, personal relationships, and most importantly their relationship with their families and with their special needs sibling/siblings. 

Our Team.

KH&M’s founder Princess Benson realized her passion for helping others while attending high school. Ms. Benson attended West Covina high school in West Covina CA where she became a peer counselor.  West Covina high School was the first school and to launch the Peer counseling program. She really enjoyed helping and supporting her classmates. In 1982, while still in high school Ms. Benson earned her early education certification. She taught in the early education field for four years. In 1986 she welcomed her one and only son into the world.

 Another dream she had was to drive an ambulance. In 1989 she become an EMT (emergency medical tech). While working on the ambulance she sustained an injury which ended her career as an EMT. She then went on to work at Los Angeles County USC hospital in Los Angeles CA in the surgery department as an EMT. In October of 1995 Four years later, she was laid off from LA CO USC. Ms. Benson then went on to join the Los Angeles Unified School District in Los Angeles CA in the Special education department where she is presently employed as a Healthcare assistant. While employed with LAUSD Ms. Benson obtained her instructor’s certification in CPR & First Aid. In 2005 she opened her first business Aliska Enterprises, teaching CPR and 1St Aid, 2004 she obtained an A.A in Liberal Studies, in 2013 her B.A. in Human Services, and in 2009 she opened a second business P&B’s Heavy Hitters Enterprises. Heavy Hitters trained adults and young adults with Special needs in vocational and work ready skills which assist them to gain successful employment.

    While working with people with special needs Ms. Benson discovered she enjoys working and interacting with their siblings. Ms. Benson really enjoyed talking to the siblings about their hobbies, feelings and what their hopes and dreams were for themselves. She enjoyed helping and watching the siblings as they ran, played, danced, colored, painted, played sports, listened to music, played video games, and enjoyed having a warm-hearted person to lend a listening ear to listen. Just enjoying being a child or young adult with no worries or concerns. 

      Ms. Benson is a current member of the following originations: Cease Fire in Gardena Ca., (SEIU) Service Employees International Union Local 99, and the American Heart Association.
